MARINA BAY SANDS - Perched on the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands, Spago is celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck’s first international foray for his flagship restaurant and a pretty primo spot to grab cocktails and light bites at the al fresco bar and lounge or fine So-Cal cuisine and Asian creations in the contemporary dining room, all against a backdrop of panoramic views of the city.
Why you should come here:
The views and the ambiance. If you’re looking to chill out for a few hours with some friends over drinks in a space that isn’t a club or an enclosed space, the bar and lounge at Spago is one of our top picks. The space has a very colonial bungalow feel with lots of lush plants, lantern-like lighting, low tables and soft cushioned seating. The drinks are quality (although pricey) and the music is good. You can also step it up a notch and sup in the dining room amid crisp white tablecloths and glittering wine glasses.
What we love:
The vibe here is chic yet casual, the food and drinks are contemporary and fresh, and the service is pretty impeccable. Try one of their handcrafted cocktails like the No Harm No Foul with Hendrick’s gin, Carpano Antica and rhubarb bitters or the Peace on Earth with tropical rum punch, passionfruit, orgeat and coconut. The bar bites are equally as good with offerings like the Spicy Tuna Tartare Cones with chili aioli, Chicken ‘Laksa’ Spring Rolls, and Grilled USDA Prime Beef Sliders with aged white cheddar.
Sit on the perimeter of the space on the side that faces the east coast versus the city and you’ll feel as though you’re not in Singapore, but rather some other cool seaside city. The city views are also nice but obstructed by the pool, so the skyline is often broken up by sunbathers and swimmers. Either way though, this is a great spot If you have visitors coming to town because it gives them those iconic views with awesome food and drinks to boot.
