LUNAR Coffee Roasters, new on TOP 50 Cafes

CBD, OUE Downtown Gallery - We love our coffee, so when we found out that OUE Downtown Gallery had plenty of new coffee options to choose from we were excited to check them out, especially because we work just around the corner at The Working Capitol. Cafes on offer at OUE include Omotesando Coffee, The Providore, 6oz Coffee Bar  and Lunar Coffee Brewers, which we absolutely loved. So far Lunar Coffee Brewers is topping our list of places nearby to grab a quick cuppa and some bites.

Why you should come here:

The cafe is sleek—as are all of the lifestyle venues in the building—with a calming color palette of dark greys, midnight blues and white marble counters and tabletops. Groovy house tunes play in the background, and the overall feeling is pretty relaxed, which is great for us because you know we always love a little bit of vibe. Grab a seat at the counter facing the windows for views of the world outside, or snag a seat at one of the communal tables. Most importantly, the coffee comes from Atlas Coffeehouse (who brought us this venture), so it’s pretty on point whether you grab a chilled cold brew bottle or an espresso creaton.

What we love:

The menu is small, making it a quick and easy stop for lunch. We had the Miso-Nori Salmon Soba  ($14.50) with poached salmon, miso-nori butter, an onsen egg, and pickled vegetables piled atop silky soba noodles. It was really tasty, but we were still hungry afterwards, so we suggest ordering a side of munchies if you’re in the mood for a heartier lunch. Sides include the Truffle Fries, Chilli Beef Nachos and Tator Tots with herbed dip.

The coffee is delicious, so we definitely see ourselves going back for a meeting over coffee and maybe to try some of their breakfast dishes like the Everyday Shashuka ($13.50) with onsen eggs and chorizo in a herb tomato ragout with spiced dukkoh and toasted sourdough on the side. They also have some good looking treats like the Earl Grey Frozen Yogurt ($5.90) and Milky Way Soft Serve ($5.90) with shortbread crumble.

UJ Tidbit:

If you want a place to work or have a meeting, we do NOT recommend coming here during lunch or anytime close to the end of the day. The cafe is located at one entrance of the new tower, so during lunch there is a non-stop flow of people coming in and out. But if you like a cafe with a little bit of a bustling vibe during your lunch hour, then this is a great spot.

For all those who work, live or like to play in the CBD, we’re adding Lunar Coffee Brewers to our list of Top 50 Cafes.
