ROBERTSON QUAY/CBD - SPRMRKT first opened in 2012 as a dining and shopping space where patrons could grab a gourmet meal before perusing the retail space for fresh produce and artisan products to take home. Their original location is at McCallum Street next to the Telok Ayer Food Centre, and they recently opened a two-storey space in the Singapore Tyler Print Institute at Robertson Quay where you will find SPRMRKT Daily, an inviting cafe and retail space on the ground floor and SPRMRKT Kitchen & Bar, a slightly more polished restaurant upstairs.
Why you should come here:
The new SPRMRKT boasts a great central location in Rob Quay next to the river, making this a sweet spot to dine outside. On the menu you’ll find modern takes on American comfort food including all-day breakfast dishes, salads, sandwiches, wraps, pastas and grilled fish and meats, plus a good selection of coffees, teas, smoothies and craft beers. Even better, Chef Jonathan Ong takes pride in making as much as possible from scratch, so everything from the mayo to the miso salad dressing tastes super fresh.
What we love:
SPRMRKT Daily is the kind of place we crave on a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon when we just want to chill out next to some nice scenery over plates of really good food. The all-day breakfast dishes are tempting and tasty like the Eggs Royale with poached eggs, sauteed spinach, smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce and lightly buttered crumpets, and the housemade Granola & Fruit with honey yoghurt. Come after 11am and you can grab delish dishes like the Blackened Fish n’ Chips with homemade squid ink batter, tartar sauce and sweet potato fries or the Pulled Pork Burger with hickory smoke BBQ sauce, crispy onion rings, pickled beets, and a sunny side up egg on a toasted sesame bun.
Head upstairs to SPRMRKT Kitchen & Bar for their fab set lunch menus that go for $38 for two courses and $49 for three courses. Options include the Pacific oysters in a red wine mignonette, Fettuccine with squid ink, tiger prawns, bacon and egg, and the Chicken with chorizo, lentils and bok choy.
About $30++ per person for a meal and a drink in the cafe, and $45++ per person for a multi-course meal upstairs.
