Atlas – Grand Lobby & Bar

by URBAN JOURNEY

A night out at Atlas is like stepping back in time to the 1920s when speakeasies were going strong in America and the grandeur of the Art Deco period was sweeping across Europe. The decor here is simply astonishing with curved staircases adorned with ornate railings, leather banquettes and red velvet armchairs, and at the center a soaring bar tower that extends all the way to ceiling. Housed in the bar tower is one of the largest collections of gin in the world with over 1,000 bottles and also on site is a champagne room with over 250 labels.

Why you should come here:

Set in the grand lobby of the Parkview Square building, Atlas is a space you definitely won’t soon forget. Everything screams elegance here from the plush seating to the rich red carpets, the illuminated marble bar backed by the bar tower, the polished service and the extraordinary drink list that includes artisan spirits, vintage bubbles and rare single malts. Head Bartender Roman Foltán, formerly of London’s award-winning Artesian at the Langham, has created an enticing cocktail list with elevated classics, and Executive Chef Daniele Sperindio puts out innovative European dishes.

What we love:

When we’re in the mood for something posh, Atlas is always at the top of the list. Having a glass of bubbles or one of their signature gin and champagne-based cocktails at the bar is an experience in itself, but we prefer to settle into one of the soft booths or armchairs and get comfy for a while.

Start the evening off with the French 25 Cocktail with orange gin, lavender, lemon, honey and champagne or The Atlas Martini with London dry gin, ambrato vermouth, orange bitters and champagne vinegar. Then indulge in some light bites like the Charred Octopus with feta goat cheese and toasted pine nuts or the Bruschetta Triumph of the Sea with blue prawn tartare, sea urchin, pomegranate and Oscietra caviar.
