What started as a series of small live music gatherings in the back alley behind a tiny bar in Melbourne has now grown into a full-fledged indie music festival taking place in five cities across Australia, as well as New Zealand, the US and right here in Singapore. That’s right, we’re talking about the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, an annual celebration of everything hip and happening in the indie music scene.
St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival was the brainchild Jerome Borazio and Danny Rogers, who started doing live music shows every Sunday afternoon on the back deck of Borazio’s bar. With a great mix of up-and-coming and well-known bands rocking out the stage every week, the events quickly caught on, and within a year the concept had evolved into a full-on block party festival.
Since its inception, the Laneway Festival has been committed to showcasing fresh new faces in the music scene, as well as established musicians creating cutting edge sounds. They also aim to rock out in unique locations where the scenery and atmosphere add to the experience.
On January 27th, the 8th Singapore Laneway Festival will go down at The Meadow in Gardens by the Bay against the spectacular backdrop of Marina Bay Sands and the cityscape of the CBD, and we can’t wait to check out the stellar acts they have lined up.
Top talent this year includes Grammy-nominated alt-rock band Wolf Alice, hip hop, funk and R&B phenomena Anderson .Paak, 16-year-old BBillie Eilish who is taking the airwaves by storm with her haunting ballads, and Australian rockers Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever to name just a few. And in true Laneway spirit, there will also be local acts hitting up the stage, great food and drinks on offer, and a guarantee that the party will go down rain or shine.
When: Saturday January 27th, 2018
Where: The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay, 18 Marina Gardens Dr.
