8 Best Pizzas in Singapore

by URBAN JOURNEY

Good pizza can be hard to come by here in Singapore and where to find the best slice is always a hot topic here at UJ HQ (that and whether pineapple is an acceptable topping). But thankfully Italy’sfinest export (arguably) is making serious inroads in the SGfoodie sceneand we now have a few favourite spots we keep returning to time after time for their consistently good pies. Whether you like thin crust or thick, artisan toppings or the good ol’ classics (you can’t beat a Margherita!), these are some of the best pizzas on our radar.

Amò

Brought to us by Beppe De Vito of the ilLido Group, Amò is a chic little spot located in a shophouse on buzzing HongKong Street. If the weather is good, grab a seat on the patio and settle in for a few glasses of wine, some antipasti plates and one of their artisan pizzas made with fresh seasonal ingredients. They do classics like the Margherita with San Marzano tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella, as well as more contemporary creations with toppings like truffles, fig vincotto and pancetta.

Recommended pizza:if you really want to be indulgent, try the Bone Marrow pizza with wild garlic pesto and anchovy salsa verde. This was honestly like nothing we’ve ever had before, and in a good way. Be warned though—you may want to share it with a friend because after a few bites the richness really kicks in.

Amò, 33 Hong Kong Street, Singapore 059672. p. +65 6723 7733. Open Mon – Fri: 12pm – 2:30pm, 6pm – 11pm, Sat: 6pm – 11pm

Limoncello

pizza restaurants in singapore

The vibe is warm and welcoming at Limoncello, a lively spot in Robertson Quay with a huge al fresco dining area overlooking the Singapore River. The pizzas here are made in the traditional Neapolitan style, so cooked on a hot stone in a wood-burning oven, which results in a lovely slightly crispy and chewy crust. They can also do wholemeal pizzas, which is great if you’re looking for something a bit healthier.

Recommended pizza:Signature dishes should be the stars of the menu, and the Limoncello Pizza doesn’t disappoint with a white base, mozzarella and a savoury mix of beef sausage, porcini mushrooms, button mushrooms and parmesan.

Limoncello, #01, 95 Robertson Quay, 18/19/20 River Gate Condominium, Singapore 238256. p. +65 6634 5117. Open Daily: 12pm – 2:30pm, 5:30pm – 10:30pm

Cicheti

best pizzas in singapore
If you’re looking for authentic Neapolitan style pizzas baked to perfection in a wood-fired oven, Cicheti is your spot. They have a great mix of red and white pizzas from the no-nonsense Margherita with fresh tomato sauce, fior de latte (a soft creamy cheese similar to mozzarella), basil and parmesan to the Carbonara, a white pizza with fior de latte, egg, bacon, caramelized onion and parmesan. Their pastas are also made fresh in house, and definitely worth a try as well.

Recommended pizza:For those who like their pizza with a bit of a kick, the Diavola with fior de latte, salami, chili, basil and parmesan is a little bit spicy and oh-so flavourful.

Cicheti, 52 Kandahar Street, Singapore 198901. p. +65 6292 5012. Open Mon – Fri: 12pm – 2:30pm, 6:30pm – 10:30pm, Sat: 6pm – 10:30pm

La Braceria

With seating for just 40 people, La Braceria is an intimate spot tucked away on a quiet street in Bukit Timah. We love coming here on a Sunday afternoon and chilling out on the patio with a bottle of vino chosen from the walk-in wine cellar and some of their delicious pizzas served piping hot straight out of the brick oven. Choose from red and white pizzas topped with a delicious array of premium meats, fresh veggies and imported cheeses.

Recommended pizza:Meat lovers must try the Pizza Carnivora with fresh sausage, bacon, honey ham and spicy salami. For vegetarians and pizza purists, the Pizza Bufala with tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella and basil leaves is absolute perfection.

La Braceria, 5 Greendale Avenue, Singapore 289501. p. +65 6465 5918. Open Tues – Sun: 12pm – 2:30pm, 6pm – 11pm

Pizza Art

Another riverside spot in Robertson Quay, Pizza Art offers up gourmet pizzas served either by the pie or the slice. Chef-owner Donato Mazzola hails from Rome, and you can often find him making his rounds offering up recommendations based on each patron’s tastes. Order up one of his signature pizzas from the menu, or let him know what toppings you love and he’ll make a bespoke pie just for you.

Recommended pizza:We were pretty blown away by the Burrata Pizza with tomato sauce, creamy chunks of burrata cheese, fresh basil and parma ham. Pair it with an icy cold Peroni beer and you’ll almost feel like you’re at a quaint streetside pizzeria in Italy.

Pizza Art, 7 Rodyk Street, Singapore 238215. p. +65 6238 8380. Open Mon – Fri: 5pm – 12am, Sat – Sun: 11:30am – 12am

Alt. Pizza

best pizza restaurants

The chefs at Alt. Pizza take their pies pretty seriously with dough made fresh every day from a blend of French and Italian flour, sauce made with Californian Saporito tomatoes ripened on the vine, and a 500-degree wood-fired oven. You can choose your own toppings or go for one of their signature pizzas like the Truffle Shuffle with fennel sausage, mushrooms and white truffle oil or the Lean & Green with feta, broccoli, baby spinach and roasted squash. They also do a super tasty artichoke dip.

Recommended pizza:We like to keep it classic with the Old School featuring tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan and Sicilian oregano. We love how thin and crispy the crust is and that it has just the right amount of grease. Pair it with one of their craft beers, and you have an instant hangover cure.

Blue Label Pizza & Wine

Brand new to Ann Siang Road, Blue Label Pizza & Wine is brought to us by the same team behind Angeleno and Luke’s. The small space is done up with funky wood panelling and comfy banquettes, and the menu features creative wood-fired pizzas, snacks to share, and a decent selection of wine. This is a great little spot for after-work vino and slices, especially if you work in the CBD. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome on a first-come-first-serve basis.
