UJ Hit List: Best things to do the week of 19 - 25 March

This week is packed full of important dates; Tuesday is international day of happiness, Wednesday is world poetry day, Thursday is world water day, Friday is puppy day (it’s a thing, who knew), and Saturday is earth hour day. In between celebrating all of that lot, here’re a few other awesome events that will keep you out of mischief this week.

Monday 19 March

If you haven’t checked out Amo, a seriously good Italian resto on HK Street (read our review), here’s your chance to see what the kitchen is made of. In honour of St. Joseph’s Day, it’s hosting a four-course Joseph’s Feast with wine for $128++ per person. Sounds divine, get your reservation sorted, stat.

Tuesday 20 March

Get your cultural arty fix at the Art Science Museum; it’s curated an Art From The Streets exhibition  showcasing 20th century graffiti and the evolution of street art that looks awesome. It’s running until 2 June, catch it today or save it for the next rainy day.

Wed 21 March

It’s hump day! Treat yourself to a mid-week feast at one of these resto’s. Keep it cheap and cheerful by bringing your own wine and enjoying the free corkage perk; because no one wants to be picking up a whacking great restaurant bill when it’s only Wednesday.

Thursday 22 March

Save water, drink wine! It’s World Water Day, and we’re doing our part to help by hosting a wine and tapas night. You’ll catch the UJ team at La Pepa on Gemmill Lane munching on seriously good tapas and sipping wine courtesy of Bottles XO. Tix are sold out, but we’ve arranged  a special discounted food and wine menu if you fancy spontaneously rocking up and joining us

Friday 23 March

It’s Friday. And that means we’re on the hunt for cheese and wine. Thankfully the Providore at Downtown have come to the rescue with its brilliant Italian wine and cheese fair. Expect wines and cocktails starting from $5 per glass, kilos of fresh pasta, and more cheese than you can shake a stick at. Perfect way to start the weekend? You betcha!

Saturday 24 March

We’re really embracing the save water, drink wine thing. And today the wine-fest continues thanks to  Urban Winerys quirky wine-crushing dinner. You’ll be sipping on five wines, indulging in a three-course feast, and crushing a ton of grapes old school style (i.e. with your bare feet). Get your tix here.

Sunday 25 March

It’s Sunday so what else to do but (ahem!), drink more wine! Head to PS Cafe on Martin Road for its monthly wine-tasting series; Sunday Wine Down. Between 4pm – 6pm you’ll have the chance to sample a carefully curated selection of wines from various regions. Today’s sesh is focusing on vino from Australia. Cheers to that.
