For our final restaurant roundup of 2018 we bring you eight new spots that we think are going to top the lists in 2019 including ahealthy eatinghaven for guilt-free bites, a unique pop-up dining experience, innovative eateries doing things a bit differently, and a few long-time faves that have branched out to new locales.

The Botanic

Newly opened in November, The Botanic is all about natural ingredients and recipes inspired by global cuisines. There’s something to please all types including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes, fresh seafood, and organic, grass-fed meats. Start with a refreshing iced tea or fruit-based cocktail, then order up plates to share like the burrata with butternut pumpkin, rocket, and grilled bread, the bluefin tuna ceviche with avocado, citrus pepper ponzu, and seaweed oil, or the smoked sambal short ribs.

HUSH20

HUSH20 is a new pop-up dining experience that takes inspiration from classic European cuisines and eateries. Located at Duxton Plain Park, the intimate space seats just 20 people and offers a different delish menu every month. From December 3rd to December 23rd it’s all about Dutch Imperial vibes with free-flow mussels, fries, beers, and wines for just $69++ per person. Kilo Kitchenopening Dec 8

Kilo Kitchen is set to open at 97 Duxton on December 8th and we can’t wait to check it out. After all, the Kilo group has never let us down in the past, so we have a feeling the newly kitted out space is going to be just as awesome as their other ventures. Expect a light-filled dining room done up with marble and wood, a revamped menu, and great vibes as always. Dine there on opening night and you’ll also get free entry toGOING on TWO with Patrick Topping (UK) and James Riachat Kilo Lounge afterwards.

The Mast’ of Mozzarella & Co

Coming to us by way of Rome, The Mast’ of Mozzarella & Co is about as authentically Italian as you can get here in Singapore. The stars of the show are fresh cheeses made in house and hand stretched and pulled. The Tris Di Bufala is a good introductory dish because you get three types of cheese including fresh buffalo mozzarella, burrata stuffed with truffles, and pesto burrata. Also on offer are pinse (flatbreads with toppings similar to pizza), housemade pastas, and Italian cocktails.

Myths & Mythz

If you’re a fan ofFrench cuisine, then you’ll definitely want to check out Myths & Mythz. Here Chef Martin Wong and his team cook up classic French fare with subtle Asian nuances. As far as ambiance goes, the goal is to offer a welcoming ‘dinner party’ atmosphere where guests can watch the chefs in action and interact with the kitchen team to get a better understanding of the inspiration behind each dish.

Preludio

Chef Fernando Arevalo plans to rewrite the fine dining experience at Preludio with themed ‘chapters’ that inspire the decor, food, and wine. The current chapter is Monochrome, so expect an elegant black and white space and creative dishes like the Pata Negra with Iberico pork, white carrot and apple purée, charred Piennolo tomato and black basil and the Patagonian toothfish with cauliflower purée, leek and almond milk bubbles, pickled almonds, and black olive powder.

TBB Safari

Set in a custom-made canvas tent in the leafy environs of Dempsey Hill, TBB Safari offers a real back-to-nature, safari-themed vibe. Grab a seat on the wooden deck or inside amid colourful carpets and cushions and order up an antioxidant latte made with fresh ingredients from the on-site garden, healthy breakfast bowls, buttery croissants, and creative confections like the Wild Safari Cake with chocolate, banana mousse, banana-passion fruit confit and coconut praline feuilletine.

Violet Oon Singapore at ION Orchard

Violet Oon is the undisputed queen of Nyonya cuisine and her latest venue at ION Orchard is the flagship of her restaurant empire. Enter through the retail shop and make your way back to the beautiful brasserie where you can sample authentic Peranakan dishes like beef rendang, sambal eggplant, and udang goreng chilli. There are also some British dishes that pay homage to Singapore’s colonial past like the mulligatawny soup, shepherd’s pie, and steak sandwich.

Bars:

1927

We love a good rooftop bar, and now we have another one to add to our list with the opening of 1927 at SO Sofitel Singapore. Make your way up to the open-air space and you’ll find a gorgeous infinity-edged pool surrounded by tropical plants and cosy corners where you can gaze out at the city skyline. The cocktails are inspired by different eras and feature fresh fruits, herbs, and spices. There are also gourmet bar bites on offer like ‘mala’ chicken drumlets and snapper ceviche.
