ABC Cooking Studio
Established in Shizuoka, Japan in 1985, ABC Cooking has since gone on to open over 100 branches in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. The focus here is mainly on Japanese dishes, so you can learn to make all your favourites like sushi rice, tempura, okonomiyaki and katsudon. They also have wagashi classes where you can make your own Japanese sweets, plus bread-making and cake-making classes and special cooking courses for kids.

Basilico

If you’ve always fancied yourself somewhat of an aficionado of Italian food, you’ll definitely want to check out the cooking classes at Basilico, the Regent Hotel’s elegant and inspired Italian dining venue. Classes are taught by Italian chef Angelo Ciccone, and students get hands-on instruction in the art of creating an authentic 3-course Italian meal. Popular dishes on the menu might include the Tuscan Style Bread and Tomato Soup, Pappardelle ai Funghi or the Piedmontese Beef Tenderloin with Barolo sauce and Robiola Cheese.

Buonissimo Culinary School

Open to foodies, beginner home cooks, amateurs and professionals alike, Buonissimo offers hands-on interactive classes every weekend that focus on a particular European cuisine. The classes are limited to 15 people each, and you generally work with a team of five people to cook a 3-course menu that you can enjoy after the class or take home with you. The classes change regularly, so depending on the week you could be covering anything from Mediterranean to French, Italian or Spanish cuisine.

Carrotsticks & Cravings

Carrotsticks and Cravings is all about fresh, healthy fare both in their cute cafe and fun cooking classes. Join Melbourne native Terri-Anne to learn how to create great tasting dishes that are packed with nutrition. The classes focus on family-friendly cuisine with vegetarian and non-veg options. She also runs classes for domestic helpers with hands-on cooking experience and top tips on how to prepare healthy food for picky eaters and food allergies.

For an introduction to Singaporean cuisine and other Southeast Asian cooking techniques, join Ruxqana Vasanwala as she walks you through each step at her warm and welcoming home in Singapore. Special classes include the Signature Cooking Class, where you head to a 100-year old house on a small island just 10 minutes from Singapore and learn how to make the classic dish of Nasi Kerabu using fresh jungle herbs from the garden. If you’re looking for something a bit more serious than your run-of-the-mill baking or cooking classes, Creative Culinaire is worth checking out. This culinary centre offers full and half-day courses that cover particular skills like croissant making, bread masterclasses, and macaron making, as well as one and two-week professional courses like their Professional Cafe Running Course that teaches you the essentials of running a successful cafe business.

Culinary On

At 7,000 square feet, Culinary On is the largest cooking studio in Asia and a great place to host fun parties, master classes, and team building activities with a gastronomic twist. The space can be divided into a conference room and four event areas, each with their own cooking stations, chef table and bar. Groups can choose from a range of cuisines to cook including Singaporean favourites, Thai curries and noodles, Italian pizzas and pasta and Spanish tapas. Expat Kitchen

Australian expat Annette Lang originally create Expat Kitchen to teach helpers and maids in Singapore how to create healthy Western meals, but her classes are open to anyone who wants to learn more about Western cooking techniques and cuisine. The classes range from Basic Kitchen Skills for beginners to Master Classes featuring complicated dishes like souffles and dinner party planning, as well as themed classes like Fish Frenzy, Gluten-free and Curry Club.

Rosaline Swoon is the author or ‘Grandmother’s Recipes - Tales From Two Peranakan Kitchens’, which showcases recipes from both sides of her Peranakan family. The small hands-on classes are designed specifically for either domestic helpers, beginner cooks and expats or tourists looking to delve into the world of Nonya fare.

Focusing on healthy vegetarian cuisine, chef Shalu Asnani disproves the myth that vegetarian food has to be boring with her fun, interactive and hands-on cooking classes at her home on East Coast Road. Classes can be tailored to a particular theme or ingredient, or students can choose from a long list of classes that cover cooking styles and techniques such as 30-minute meals, gluten-free cooking, detox recipes, Asian salads, and regional vegetarian cuisine such as Sri Lankan, Thai, Laotian and Vietnamese.

TOTT stands for 'Tools of the Trade', and that’s exactly what you’ll find at this kitchenware emporium and cutting-edge cooking school. The classes here are divided into three categories: demonstrations, hands-on baking and hands-on cooking. For the demonstrations, students watch expert chefs prepare mouthwatering dishes, sample a tasting portion of the dishes, and get to take home the recipe. Dean Brettschneider is an award-winning baker and patissier, author of 12 cookbooks, and a judge on various TV cooking shows, so his cooking and baking school is a must for anyone looking to learn the fine art of baking. The Providore Cooking Studio

We’ve always been fans of The Providore for its fresh healthy food and gourmet markets. The cooking studio gives us one more reason to love them. The hands-on classes and workshops are run by resident and guest instructors and are kept small to maximise the time you get with the teachers. Even better, the classes are constantly changing, so you always have something new to choose from. Options could include anything from making muesli to healthy food for healthy kids, spirits masterclasses, and sessions devoted entirely to cheese (sign us up please!).

Introducing the first and only Japanese ramen and udon school outside of Japan.
