CHINATOWN - Fresh fish is the focus at Kanda Wadatsumi, a reincarnation of the popular restaurant of the same name in Tokyo’s Kanda district. The restaurant has connections to the Japan Fisheries Association, so Chef Hara Shinji has plenty to play with for his inspired omakase meals, set lunches and dinners, an a la carte creations.
Why you should come here:
All of the fish and Wagyu beef used here is flown in straight from Japan, so the quality of the ingredients is absolutely TOP. Their connection with the Japan Fisheries Association means that they source directly from fishermen who know exactly where to catch the fattiest tuna, the sweetest shellfish and the meatiest eels. In addition, all of the tableware is from Japan and they’ve got a great hand-picked sake list, which means your experience here is going to be about as authentic as you can get.
What we love:
Kanda Wadatsumi a bit of a secret, but now we’ve let you in on it, so do yourself a favour and get down there to try some of Chef Hara’s sublime seafood creations. We suggest grabbing a seat at the sushi bar and going omakase style so you can watch the chefs slice and dice choice seasonal delicacies. They’ve also got great lunch and dinner specials on everything from sushi to sashimi, donburi bowls and udon noodles.
