MARINA BAY SANDS - Some say Waku Ghin is hands down the best restaurant in Singapore, and it certainly does win a lot of international accolades like No. 6 on the Asia’s Best Restaurants list and a highly coveted Michelin star. Chef Tetsuya Wakuda also bagged the Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award - Asia 2015, which is another testament to his passion and skill. At Waku Ghin he creates modern Japanese dishes with only the finest ingredients and seductively subtle seasonings to let the fresh flavours shine through.
Why you should come here:
The 8,000-square-foot space is divided into three private dining rooms, each with seating around a teppan table manned by a personal chef. There is no a la carte menu here, instead the chefs will prepare 10 exquisite courses, each more satisfying than the last. For the last course, diners head out into the dining room to enjoy fine desserts against spectacular views of Marina Bay and the Singapore skyline.
What we love:
No detail is left to chance here, from the flawless service to the freshness of the ingredients and the fine balance of flavours in each dish. Chef Tetsuya’s signature dish of Marinated Botan Shrimp with sea urchin and Oscietra caviar is simply superb—rich, creamy and bursting with flavour. Other standout dishes include the Braised Canadian Lobster in a savoury tarragon butter sauce with a roll on the side to soak up the sauce, and the Japanese Ohmi Wagyu Roll from Shiga Prefecture with wasabi and citrus soy for dipping on the side.
Don’t have time for a 10-course meal? You can drop by the bar any time to get a taste of Chef Tetsuya’s offerings. Bar bites go for $35++, but trust us, they are sure worth it.
The 10-course degustation menu is $400++ per person not including drinks.
