It’s not always easy to find good Mediterranean food in Singapore, after all, what makes it so delicious is fresh, locally sourced produce served up in a simple yet delicious fashion. And we all know that getting our hands on anything fresh in SG can be a challenge. But theserestaurantsandcafesserving classic and contemporary dishes championing flavours of the sun from countries like Greece, Lebanon, and Turkey prove it can be done. Our search took us fromTelok AyertoBoat Quayand even all the way to Sentosa, and we reckon we’ve found 10 stellar spots where you can sample authentic Mediterranean flavours. Think light mezze bites to share, smoky grilled seafood and meats, freshly baked pitas, and thick Turkish coffee. Yum.

Alati

Named after the ancient Greek word for salt, Alati focuses on fresh seafood hand caught by fishermen in the Aegean Sea, then packed on ice and flown overnight to Singapore. Try the Mediterranean mussels with ouzo and fresh herbs, the smoky grilled octopus, or the carabinero prawns with ladolemono (lemon and olive oil). Not a huge fan of fish? They also have great veggie and meat options like the phyllo-wrapped feta with honey and the grilled lamb cutlets with potatoes, herbs, and mustard.

Bakalaki

Bakalaki Singapore

BuzzyBakalakiis a contemporary Greek taverna where the ambiance is just as alluring as the food. Step inside the all-white space and you find soaring ceilings, blonde wood tables, and diagonally slanted shelves of wine. The owners hail from Greece and work with Greek suppliers to get fresh ingredients from their homeland, so the dishes are about as authentic as you can get. Do yourself a favour and order the seafood platter with crispy fried squid, grilled octopus and prawns.

Blu Kouzina

Blu Kouzinahas always been one of our go-to Greek spots, and even more so now that they’ve moved to a gorgeous location in Dempsey Hill. The main dining room is bright and cheerful with blue and white decor, while the back room with its floor-to-ceiling glass walls looking out over the garden is simply divine. Some of our favourite dishes here include the the grilled lamb chops, fava dip with yellow lentils, onions, oregano, and extra virgin olive oil, and the baklava.

Fat Prince

Inspired by Istanbul and brought to us by the same folks behind Neon Pigeon,Fat Princeoffers splashes of colour at every turn and exotic Middle Eastern flavours. Start with a raki cocktail or aromatic Turkish coffee, then move on to mezze plates like the homemade cashew hummus and smoked pepper squid. The kebabs are also to die for, as they come on fluffy homemade pita bread with your choice of grilled meats, prawns, or halloumi cheese and an array of vibrant sauces and fillings.

Fotia

Situated at the bottom of Club Street, this joint has quickly gained a steady following as we’ve watched them expand over the past year since they launched. People come here for the food, the vibe and the location where you’re sure to leave stuffed with deliciousness. It’s open for both lunch and dinner, satisfying the nearby Telok crowd with kebabs, dips and salads ready to satisfy that greek craving – and depending on how much you’ve indulged, you may be craving a nap afterwards. Try the Dakos salad, lamb kebab and smoked eggplant dip for a well deserved break from your go-to Salad Stop routine.

Lolla

Lolla Mediterranean food in Singapore

If you’re looking for a fun little spot to grab Mediterranean-inspired shared plates with friends, Lolla is your spot. The menu here leans heavily towards Spanish and French influences with options like the Iberico pork collar, Spanish tortilla with smoked eel, and duck fat potatoes. Snag a spot at the long counter in front of the open kitchen to watch the chefs work their magic or head to the champagne bar or private room downstairs for a more intimate experience.

Olivia Restaurant & Lounge

Located in the happening new KēSa House complex in the Keong Saik hood, Olivia offers up rustic Catalan vibes and eats. Chef and co-founder Alain Devahive draws on his heritage and experience working in renowned kitchens like El Bulli to create vibrant Mediterranean dishes that burst with freshness and flavour. Start with light bites like the mushroom and truffle croquettes, then move on to hearty fare like the Iberico pork with peppers and pico de gallo.

Pistachio Grill

It may be in a mall, but don’t let Pistachio Grill’s no-frills atmosphere fool you. Chef Khaled Elelimi spent years working at high-end restaurants in Egypt, India, the Maldives, and here in Singapore, so he knows a thing or two about fine food. Step up to the counter and you can choose from an array of tempting Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes like creamy hummus, tender lamb shank tagine, and market fish in a spice-infused sauce.

Moosehead

Featuring a mash-up of Mediterranean, Asian and global flavours, Moosehead is an eclectic, easy-going eatery in the Telok Ayer hood. The energy here is spot on with cool tunes playing in the background, sleek banquettes filled with happy diners, and vibrant dishes flying out of the open kitchen. Definitely try some of their contemporary plates like the INKA fried eggs with chorizo, aioli, and chives, or the burrata with zucchini, Thai basil pesto, and curry leaves.

Mykonos on the Bay

As far as scenic settings go, Mykonos has it nailed with their seaside spot in Sentosa Cove. Grab a seat on the blue and white themed patio or inside amid rustic stone walls and you almost feel as though you’re in a taverna on one of the Greek isles. Adding to the authentic vibe is their menu of classic Greek fare like the crispy fried calamari, saganaki cheese dressed in lemon and ouzo, and the spanakopita with spinach, feta, and dill.

For Mediterranean bites that go behind the usual Greek fare, make your way to Urban Bites where head chef Haroutioun Ara Sayegh showcases Lebanese dishes along with a few Turkish and Tunisian creations. Their weekend brunch is particularly popular with tasty treats like the Cheese Manouche, freshly baked flatbread stuffed with four different cheeses, and the lamb shashouka with poached eggs and pulled lamb in a tangy tomato sauce.
