BUKIT TIMAH – La Braceria is not the easiest place to find, as it’s tucked away in a residential neighbourhood in Bukit Timah, but this place is definitely worth searching for because they do some pretty great Italian cuisine. Think sauteed clams in a white wine sauce that are so fresh they still taste like the sea, creamy burrata stuffed into homemade ravioli topped with a vibrant cherry tomato and basil sauce, and thin-crust pizzas topped with spicy homemade sausage, bacon, honey ham and salami.
Why you should come here:
The food here is authentic. Owner chef Fabio Iannone and head chef Giovanni Minarelli both come from Italy and have years of experience in the culinary world. The menu features dishes from all around Italy including Mediterranean-style seafood platters, delicious cheeses and cold cuts, Neapolitan-style pizzas, and hearty grilled meats. If you’re in the Bukit Timah hood (or even further afield) and craving really good rustic Italian food, this is a great bet.
What we love:
Definitely try the pizzas because they’re absolutely gorgeous. We love the Pizza Bufala because even though it’s super simple with just tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella cheese and basil, the ingredients are so fresh and high quality that they pack a great flavour punch. And being the cheese lovers that we are, the Burrata e Prosciutto di Parma 30-Mesi is a dream starter as it comes with beautiful burrata cheese served with 30-month-old Parma ham and ripe Italian cherry tomatoes.

La Braceria is definitely a great date spot, as the ambiance is cozy and quaint and the somewhat hidden away location makes it feel like you’re in a whole different city. Plus the food is consistently good—so good that the Italian Embassy even orders from these guys—so it’s sure to impress even the pickiest of dates.
