The Other Roof: Taking ‘Tea’ Time Up on Notch

The Other Roof

There’s a new rooftop drinking concept in the Club Street hood that puts a new spin on craft cocktails, and we think you definitely need to check this spot out. Located atop the new lifestyle destination Ann Siang House, The Other Roof specializes in bespoke cocktails made with tea-infused spirits and great tapas-style eats, which means ‘tea’ time will be taken up a notch. Seeing as how it’s brought to us by the same peeps behind award-winning cocktail bar The Other Room, you can bet this lofty drinking den is more than just your run-of-the-mill rooftop spot.

Our experience:

We’ve been to The Other Roof a few times now since it opened, but it took us a while to get there because the bars on Club Street haven’t been our main hangouts as of late. All that changed though with the opening of Ann Siang House, which offers up some pretty sweet drinking and dining destinations. Walk up the stairs or take the lift to the rooftop, and you find yourself in a fun rooftop locale that has the same cheeky vibe as The Other Room, albeit with loads more space.

We’ve gone here when its been a little quiet and when its been a little more crowded and we enjoyed both of our experiences. Walk onto the deck and you’re hit with awesome views of the surrounding shophouses and the CBD skyline. Even if you’re not a drinker, it’s worth a visit worth just for those views. For seating you have tons of tables to choose from, but we suggest sitting at the bar and having a chat with the amicable head bartender, Dario Knox.

The stars of the menu are the signature cocktails made with tea-infused spirits. The team here sources premium teas from around the world and makes their own unique vodkas, rums, and gins that they use in their signature boozy creations. We love that the cocktail list includes tasting notes like smoky, fresh, and earthy. We suggest pairing your cocktails with the bar snacks that are on offer like smoked nuts and olives and the ham and truffle bikini and mini beef sliders.

About:

Dario Knox has done it again with another sophisticated spot where the cocktails take centre stage. If you’ve been to The Other Room at the Singapore Marriott Hotel, the same quality translates over in the design, decor, and menus. The space can fit up to 150 people and has a portion in the back that isn’t even open yet, plus they’re planning to extend their hours, so it’s coming along slowly but surely. Behind the bar you have over 400 spirits, which have been infused with various tea blends and have been created in house – we say that’s pretty bad-ass. The food menu is also enticing with options for omnivores, vegans, gluten-free eaters, and those who like their food fiery.

Urban Journey says:

The Other Roof adds to the F&B offerings at Ann Siang House, a new development along Club Street that we think is really reviving the area. It has awesome city views, quality bevvies, and space for tons of people, which makes it a good option for large groups or parties. And as tea is meant to be enjoyed with groups of people, the same is meant to be done here so if you do plan to come with a large crew, better make reservations just in case, especially on weekends. And if you’re looking for a sweet Sunday night spot for mellow vibes and smooth cocktails, they have you covered. We can’t wait to spend more time here.
