The first weekend of October is set to be nothing short of spectacular with tons of fun events in Singapore for all types of peeps. We’re talking food and wine festivals, film screenings, a fashion bazaar, and a good old fashioned block party with killer beats, great eats, and tons of fun workshops and interactive sessions. If you want to start the month off right, these events will get you out of the house and experiencing all sorts of awesomeness.

1 – 6 October 2019

World Sake Day

Head to KOMA for some sake specials this week. Try out their new cocktails or tuck into unlimited house sake for just $42++. New cocktails include:
Komatini – Roku gin, AO NO UMI (Blue Ocean) Japanese Vodka and Sawanotsuru Jyosen
Junmai Blossom – Tried & True vodka, Roku gin, Nakano Shuzo Maboroshi “mystery”, and St Germain
Sawayaka Sake – Nakano Shuzo Maboroshi “mystery”, Heiwa Shuzo Tsuru-Ume Yuzushu, Ketel one vodka, lemon juice, spiced lemon honey, garnished with shiso leaves and Hanaho flower
Momoiro – Sawanotsuru Jyosen, yuzu juice, Boiron lychee puree, Boiron raspberry puree, garnished with rose petals
Sorairo – Sawanotsuru Jyosen, violet liqueur, Mathilde peach liquer, Angostura orange bitters, garnished with orange peel and thyme

Autumn Trunk Show

Autumn Trunk Show Singapore October Event

Pick up some new threads and bling at the Autumn Trunk Show featuring three outstanding women-led brands. Make your way to the Diplomat Room at the St. Regis Singapore between 10:30am and 8:30pm on Thursday and you can take your pick of gorgeous ready-to-wear and bespoke fashions and jewellery by Cherie D, Project Bandi, and Sapna B Jewellery. For each purchase you make, 10% of the proceeds will go to women’s welfare associations.

Japan Food Matsuri

If you love Japanese food, you won’t want to miss Takashimaya Department Store’s annual festival of Japanese gastronomical culture. Japan Food Matsuri features tons of stalls selling Japanese food and products including fresh seafood bentos from Hokkaido, assorted Japanese sweets and snacks like matcha cheese tarts, and world-famous ramen. There will also be lucky draws where you can win sake, restaurant vouchers, and toys.

Hustlers – Project X Movie Fundraiser

Catch a flick and support a good cause at the screening of Hustlers at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. The movie is about a group of strippers who hustle wealthy Wall Street clients. When the 2008 financial collapse happens, they’re forced to come up with a new scheme. A $50 donation gets you a movie ticket, medium popcorn, and a coupon for a free pole dance class for two. Proceeds go to Project X, Singapore’s only organisation dedicated to empowering and protecting sex workers.

Wine Fiesta 2019

Wine Fiesta 2019 October Event Singapore

Calling all oenophiles – the Wine Fiesta is back at the Grand Hyatt Singapore for it’s 12th year, and this time they’re adding gourmet food to the mix. The Hyatt’s executive sous chef, Gregor Streun has come up with a curated menu of delicious bites that will pair perfectly with the wines on offer from various regions like Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and North and South America. The vino fest starts at 6:30pm on Friday and will run until 7pm on Sunday.

Urban Ventures 12: Keong Saik Street CarnivalOur favourite block party is back with another awesome takeover of Keong Saik Street and Jiak Chuan Road from 3pm to 10:30pm on Saturday, October 5. Urban Ventures is all about reclaiming the streets with local arts, music, culture and great food. Archifest 2019 – Tadao Ando: From Emptiness to Infinity

Archifest 2019 - Tadao Ando: From Emptiness to InfinityIn case you missed it the first time around, this inspiring documentary about Japanese minimalist architect Tadao Ando will be running again at The Projector on Saturday, October 5 at 3:30pm. The film gives insight into the inspiration and creative process that goes into Ando’s exposed concrete designs that fuse Japanese tradition and contemporary modernism. Tickets are $13.50 or $11.50 for students and seniors.

Beethoven im Garten – The Pastoral Symphony

Immerse yourself in Beethoven’s flowing rhythms at this free concert on the grass at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage. The concert is brought to us by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Singapore in partnership with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. Singapore’s Kahchun Wong will conduct as you sit back and relax on a picnic blanket and soak up the sweet sounds.
