Holding fort at a colourful three-storey shophouse in Kampong Glam for more than 13 years, Blu Jaz Cafe is a stalwart of the ‘hood and one of our favourite go-to spots for easy going vibes,great live music, and reasonably pricedeatsand drinks (besides, you’ve not experienced late-night SG until you’ve stumbled bleary-eyed out of Blu Jaz at 2am wondering “how the hell is it 2am?!”). Entertainment is a given here; it hosts jam sessions by some of Singapore’s best bands, as well as poetry slams, comedy acts, hip hop nights, and much more.
Why you should come here:
Blu Jaz is spread out over three levels, so you have a ton of options when it comes to atmosphere. Chill out on the garden patio amid vibrant wall murals, move inside for some grub in its bohemian styled dining room where you’ll often find live music, or head up to the second and third floors for a more loungey vibe with DJs setting the mood.
What we love:
Unlike many other live music spots, these guys don’t stick to just one genre. Depending on what night you come and which level you choose to chill on, you could be grooving to sultry blues rhythms, bopping your head to old school hip hop and R&B, or joining the crowds on the dance floor to belt out glam rock anthems. There’s kind of an ‘anything goes’ vibe here, which makes it a super laid-back place to come and have something to eat and a few drinks with friends without having to worry about dressing up to the nines or putting on airs.

It also has great happy hour deals on Level 1 from 3pm to 7pm, Monday to Saturday when you can grab one-for-one bottles of beer and house wine for $15++ and pints of Heineken and Tiger for $10++. The same deal goes down on Level 2 from 6pm to 9pm, Monday to Saturday.
