All the essentials are here for a good night: A small space. Friendly staff. Sake. Beer. Oh ya, and the charm of picking your own unique sake glass for the evening.
We stumbled upon Orihara late one evening in Robertson Quay and every since then we’ve always recommended it to friends. Why?
It’s got avibe. The space is cozy and fills up with an eclectic mix of people and sake lovers on the weekends.
Walk into Orihara and plop yourself at the bar. Tell your server what kind of sake you like and he will pull a suitable recommendation out of the 80 or so on offer. Don’t forget to order a refreshing beer to wash it down. You can spend a night here just sake-ing it up with friends inside, or even come for dinner too (which we like to enjoy outside and head inside after).
Orihara is located next to Yazawa, that supplies the menu on demand here. You can choose from a wide variety of Japanese tapas, including various grilled and fried meats, flavorful vegetables, and other delectable dishes that come out on small plates. The food is incredibly fresh, and the small plates are the perfect companion to your sake.
Why you should come here:
Go to Orihara when you are in the mood for a night out, because the sake flows like water and it won’t be any other way. Just be sure to load up on the small plates before throwing back too much of the superb sake at this authentic Japanese liquor shop and sake bar in the heart of Singapore.
What we love:
For a light beer, try the Suntori. Unfortunately, we have yet to become sake pros, but the friendly staff are more than willing to suggest excellent tipples based on your preferences. As for the gourmet offerings, the savory teriyaki sticks, pork belly, chicken teriyaki, and mushrooms are all fresh and tasty.
