The Legian Bali: Tried and tested

by URBAN JOURNEY

One of the biggest draws to Bali as abeach getaway(aside from the fact it’s only a few hours away from Singapore!) is the myriad of accommodation options available. Whether you’re riotously celebrating a special occasion with friends in Canggu, or plotting a chilled weekend with your SO inUbud, it’s easy to find a roof over your head that fits the occasion. But if you’re looking for a hotel that’s a cut above the rest, you can’t go wrong with The Legian Bali inSeminyak. We recently had the chance to stay here and instantly fell in love with this stunning hotel. Situated on the golden sands of Seminyak Beach and just minutes from some of Bali’s best boutiques, restaurants, and nightlife, this elegant hideaway surpassed all our vacay expectations.

Why you should come here:

The Legian has been around for over 20 years, but unlike many of Bali’s grande dame hotels, it has managed to keep things classic and contemporary. The grounds are meticulously manicured with fragrant frangipani trees and bubbling water features, the pools are sparkling clean, and the spacious villas and suites are super chic with clean white walls, tasteful Indonesian artworks and artefacts, and dark wood balconies overlooking the Indian Ocean. Plus you’ve got every modern comfort you could ask for including Wi-Fi throughout, a stocked minibar, spa, fully equipped gym, and an attentive crew of staff who go above and beyond to ensure your every need is met.

What we love:

Location, location, location. The Legian Bali boasts an amazing spot right on the beach and is just a short walk to Seminyak hot spots like Ku De Ta, La Lucciola, and Potato Head Beach Club. Yet you wouldn’t know it from actually being at the resort, as the tropical gardens create a sanctuary of serenity. In fact, we wouldn’t blame you if you had no desire to leave this little oasis at all. There were so many times we couldn’t tear ourselves away!

We love how spacious the rooms are and that every suite offered balconies with views over the ocean, which was great for soaking up Seminyak’s legendary sunsets. The breakfast spreads are divine with tons of great options like exotic fruits, eggs Benny, and freshly squeezed juices, and you’ve also got great drinking and dining options at The Pool Bar, The Ocean Bar, and its fine dining restaurant. The service is also exceptional; The staff know how to make you feel right at home.

UJ Tidbit:

All the suites are beautiful, but if you want to stay in style, opt for one of the private pool villas in the exclusive club part of the resort. Villa guests have access to a private lounge and 28-metre lap pool, plus extras like personal butlers and complimentary cocktails and canapes at sunset. There is also The Beach House with three bedrooms right on the ocean and a 16-metre private pool for families and groups who want to keep things private.

No matter which room category you opt for, make some time for foot massages next to the pool; anyone who is around can help you book one. Also, be sure to schedule in a sundowner sesh to enjoy the epic sunsets (you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better view elsewhere). We hear The Legian is also opening up two new properties in Lombok and Flores soon; we’ll be visiting when they do.
