Common Man Stan

We’ve all got our vices, and caffeine is most definitely one of ours (that, andwine). We’re also not ashamed to admit that only the good stuff will do. Give us an aromatic cup of single origin Java and we can power through pretty much anything the day has to throw at us. So you can imagine our joy upon discoveringCommon Man Coffee Roasters has opened a new haunt on Stanley Street. Not only is it conveniently close to our office, but it also provides yet another amazing option for high-qualitycoffee in the CBD, plus it’s a top spot forbreakfastorlunch.

Why you should come here:

Common Man Coffee Roasters is renowned for its sublime coffee made with speciality beans roasted in-house; your cup of joe at Common Man Stan is guaranteed to be good. Opt for one of the fast brews for a quick takeaway or if you’ve got a bit more time it’s worth sampling a slow brew made to order and prepared by hand. It also has a great selection of breakfast and lunch bites ranging from healthy options like granola and salads to more indulgent dishes like the eggs benny and Wagyu burger. If you’re looking for a breakfast or lunch meeting spot that’s in between a restaurant and cafe, this is a good bet. They’re also open on Saturdays, so if you live or work out in the hood, it’s worth hitting up for brunch too.

What we love:

The interiors are stylish with tons of natural wood, rattan, and marble, and the front of the cafe has great natural lighting. It’s also nice to sit outside at the high tables if it’s not too hot. Some of the dishes on the menu are the same as the Robertson Quay locale, but it also has some new additions like the ponzu chicken with homemade pesto and brown rice, and the halloumi, zucchini, and herb fritters. However, our favourite dish of the moment is the poached eggs with avocado on out-of-this-world toast from Tiong Bahru Bakery. It’s simple, but insanely satisfying.

UJ tidbit:

Try to get a seat in the front section of the cafe where the light is lovely during the day. And if you’re in the mood for a few tipples with your lunch or brunch, they also have a decent selection of cocktails on the menu.
