Sarnies: We Revisit this Neighbourhood Staple for their Great Food & Excellent Coffee

by URBAN JOURNEY

Sarnies may be named after the Aussie slang word for sandwiches, but there’s so much more going on at this cool cafe than just the excellent sarnies. This is one of our favourite go-to spots forcoffee in the CBDand a happening hotspot for wholesome, quality, casual eatsany time of the day. Even if you don’t live or work in the CBD, it’s worth making a trip down to Sarnies for the easy-going weekendbrunchfeaturing farm-to-table fare like fresh eggs from antibiotic-free chickens, house-cured bacon, and heavenly cuppas made with coffee beans roasted in house.

Our experience:

We’ve been to Sarnies more times than we can count; sometimes just to get our java fix and other times for a full-on feed. We love that there are tons of healthy options available all day like the acai bowl with fresh fruit, coconut chips, nuts, seeds, and goji berries, the smoked salmon salad with a tangy lemon vinaigrette, and the cajun prawns with fresh mango salsa. Then again, if you want to indulge you can go for something a bit more sinful like the chicken parmigiana or truffle porcini mushroom risotto.

Why we’ll be back:

We often come to Sarnies for breakfast meetings because the location in Telok Ayer is super convenient and the coffee and breakfast dishes are fab. The brownies are also the bomb. And of course the sandwiches are awesome and there are tons to choose from like the chicken schnitzel, kurobuta ham, and the grilled augerbine. We also hit Sarnies up after work every so often when we’re craving an easy-going meal and a few of their delish espresso martinis.

UJ Tidbit:

Fancy something sweet? Do yourself a favour and try one of their soft serve ice creams. Options include acai or coconut topped with goodies like cashews, cacao nibs, and chia seeds. It’s healthy and satisfies that sweet tooth craving.

Damage:

Breakfast or lunch will set you back about $20++ and dinner dishes go for about $25++ to $30++ for a main.
