Imagine heading out for a bite to eat and getting your food shopping done all in one go. Impossible you say? Not anymore now that The Providore has opened shop in the Mandarin Gallery. Brought to you by the same crew behind Jones the Grocer, this small gourmet market and cafe offers locally made and globally sourced products, as well as tasty dishes that use the same high quality ingredients they sell in all of their culinary creations.

We headed here early one morning to grab some breakfast and entered to find cozy communal tables and additional seating along the wall and at the small intimate tables. The high exposed ceiling and light wood furniture created a feeling of space and warmth, and the contemporary design was fresh and inviting.

The menu features a decent amount of options for breakfast, and we especially loved the fact that there were healthy choices that went above and beyond your usual bacon and eggs. Some of the dishes really stood out for us, including theOrganic Muesli Parfait ($12.5),Free Range Eggs cooked any style with toast ($12.5),Open Faced BLT ($16.5), and theRicotta Pancakes ($17.5)to name just a few.

We ordered thePoached Eggs, which came with whole wheat toast and avocado on the side—a super healthy and filling way to start the day. Also in the mix was theOpen Faced BLT withgrilled bacon, provolone cheese, roasted tomatoes, avocado, rocket and garlic aioli. Simply delicious.

And of course, being the coffee fanatics we are, we were stoked to see that they had Toby’s Estate coffee, making them one of the very few places to get a good cup of joe on Orchard Road. The coffee here sells at normal prices of around $5 or so a cup. Per usual, it was hard not to be tempted by the delicious gourmet products that they were selling under The Providore brand, including teas, coffee beans, sauces, relishes, jams and chocolate.

We would love to start the day like this more. Everything came to under 20 bucks, which is quite reasonable for Orchard Road, and the quality of the food is pretty hard to beat. They also do brunches only on weekends and public holidays, which is great for those of us who simply don’t have the time to eat breakfast out on the weekdays.

WHAT WE LOVE

The super healthy breakfast options. The ingredients are fresh and seasonal and the price we paid was definitely reasonable for what we usually get. We’re also really happy they have Toby’s Estate Coffee and that they serve food all day too.

SUGGESTED FOR

A great way to start the day—wholesome breakfast, fresh, tasty produce and amazing coffee. It’s a great spot too if you want a quick lunch on Orchard. This place does get busy though, so we recommend avoiding it during peak hours, especially on the weekends. We will definitely be back though to check out their lunch menu!
