Get ready to be utterly inspired because the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) is back again for three weeks starting in mid-May. Established in 1977, the festival celebrates contemporary artists from far and wide with spectacular showings of theatre, music, dance, film and visual arts. The events take place at venues all over the island, but The Arts House is the main hub and will be positively buzzing with artist talks, workshops, immersive exhibitions and opportunities to chat up artists and art lovers at the festival bar.
So what can you expect at this vibrant arts extravaganza? Think classic movies and dance performances reinvented with contemporary twists, powerful visual imagery in the form of photographs, paintings and digital artworks, experiential music and thought provoking installations that highlight the current human condition. Although many of the performances are ticketed and require advanced booking, there are also plenty of free events like film screenings, concerts and storytelling under the stars.
