Unleash the Beast: 7 Must-Try Boxing Workouts

by URBAN JOURNEY

Having a year-round beach bod is up there on our #FirstWorldProblems list, so we’re always on the hunt for new ways toburn caloriesthat are also, dare we say it, fun. And we reckon 2018 is the year boxing workouts are set to take Singapore by storm. Thanks to Victoria’s Secret Angels claiming it’s the best full-body fat burner, and big-money bouts between fighting titans like Mayweather and McGregor, we’ve noticed a ton of sparring gyms pop up in recent months. As notoriously intimidating places to join, we thought we’d scout out a few to see what the deal is, and we were pleased to find a myriad of gyms catering to all levels that are super friendly and not in the least bit scary. Gloves at the ready, if you haven’t tried it, we say it’s time to get punchy. Here’s where we think you’ll get thebest workout.

The RING

Nestled in a modern warehouse on Kim Yam Road in Robertson Quay, The RING epitomises what a boxing community should be about. The space comprises a large floor with the obligatory ring in the centre, in addition to a fully kitted out gym with bikes, treadmills, rowers, and weights; brownie points for not needing another gym membership. Classes including boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, plus strength and conditioning training are available, and whether you’re a hardcore boxing machine or just want to dip your toe into learning the sweet science, The RING has got you covered. We’re also fans of its smoothie bar for a post-workout protein fix.
