The signature dish is the Bistecca alla Fiorentina, a thick-cut F1 wagyu T-bone steak cooked over a wood-fired grill to give it a slight crust on the outside and tender meat inside. Purists can devour it as is, or you can opt for side sauces like the rosemary mustard ortre formaggiowith three cheeses. Choose a selection from the meat cart and let the pros in the kitchen season your cut and grill it exactly to your liking. L’Entrecôte is a charming French bistro that’s famous for one thing and that is the simple, yet oh-so-satisfying steak frites. The only main on the menu comes as a generous portion of grilled steak smothered in a umami-packed secret sauce and served with crispy golden fries and a fresh green salad with walnuts. Got a full-on hunger going on? Amp up your protein intake with the XXL portion for just $20++ more. Luke’s Oyster Bar & Chop House

Luke’s is usually first on our list when we’re craving a really great steak and seafood feast because the service, ambiance, and food are seriously spot-on. The menu features an array of mouthwatering chop house classics like freshly shucked oysters, jumbo lump crab cakes, bone-in tenderloin, and milk-fed veal chops. Pair your main with sides like the lobster mac ‘n’ cheese and creamy potato puree, and be sure to ask the sommelier to suggest a bottle from their excellent selection of wines.

The Market Grill

You’ve got to love a spot where dining at the bar is just as enticing as settling in at a table. In fact, we prefer grabbing a spot at The Market Grill’s long counter so we can watch the chefs in action as they grill up robust dishes like the massive Black Angus porterhouse that can serve up to three people and the moreish Hungarian Mangalica pork chops. There’s not a whole lot for vegetarians here, but if you’re a meat-lover, this is your spot. Insider tip: swing by at lunch for awesome great value deals.

Masa Steak and Hamburg

Dark and cosy just like a good steakhouse should be, Masa Steak and Hamburg pulls out all the stops for carnivores with an ample selection of meat dishes made from primo beef flown in from Japan. Start with the beef carpaccio or tartar steak, then peruse the menu for various cuts of wagyu A5 grade beef priced by the gram. Our favourite was the melt-in-your-mouth tenderloin with an extra side of baked beef curry rice. It can get pricey depending on how much meat you want to devour, but trust us, it’s worth every penny.

Masa Steak and Hamburg, 11 Unity Street #01-03, Robertson Walk, Singapore 237995. p. +65 6836 2529. Open daily 6pm – 11:30pm

New Ubin Seafood

New Ubin started as a small seafood joint on Pulau Ubin, but soon grew so popular that a move to the mainland was in order. Now you’ll find them in a rather rustic setting in the Sin-Ming area, but don’t let the low-key locale fool you; this place gets packed. Seafood and cze char dishes are the stars, but surprisingly it’s also known for its steak. The US black angus rib eye comes chopped in perfectly charred, marbled cubes served with potato wedges, and in our opinion it’s every bit as good as the seafood.

New Ubin Seafood, 18 Tampines Industrial Cres, #01-16 Singapore 528605

Pistachio Grill

Pistachio Grill isn’t your typical steakhouse, but this casual little spot makes our list for its hole-in-the-wall vibes and hearty Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes that won’t break the bank. Options for meaty goodness including the Moroccan style marinated lamb chops, grilled beef tenderloin skewers, and the slow-cooked lamb shank. Vegetarians are also well catered to with a decent selection of vibrant non-meat dishes like the smoked eggplant with tahini and chickpea pate.

Pistachio Grill, 20 Ah Hood Road, Zhongshan Mall #01-15, Singapore 329984. p. +65 6262 6400. Open daily 11:30am – 10pm
