COMO Cuisine

If you’ve been to the Dempsey Hill hood lately, you’ve probably noticed a slew of new restaurants opening in the COMO Dempsey complex including Candlenut, Ippoh Tempura and Dempsey Cookhouse. COMO Cuisine Singapore is the latest addition to the enclave, and we recently popped by to see what all the hype was about. If you’re not familiar with the COMO brand, they have a ton of gorgeous resorts around the globe offering world-class restaurants that focus on clean-eating cuisine.

Why you should come here:

Executive Chef Timothy de Souza has worked in numerous exotic destinations including Turks and Caicos, the Maldives, Japan and Australia, and he brings this experience to the table at COMO Cuisine with a fusion of flavours in dishes that are fresh, modern and pay homage to Singapore’s culinary traditions. He also works with COMO’s resident nutritionist, Eve Persak, to make sure dishes not only taste great, but are also healthful and (relatively) guilt-free.

What we love:

The all-white space is clean, contemporary, and flooded in natural light with plants hanging from the ceiling and long wooden tables where you can dine solo or with groups of friends. There are tables outside, but we opted to move indoors where the air-conditioning is cool and you still get a sense of the outside world through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The mussels were fantastic with hints of garlic, chili, fennel, cinzano, and tomato sauce. The canaroli rice with porcini mushroom, parmesan, and peppery leaves was a much heartier dish and something we would definitely order again. As for the sides, we loved the sautéed broccollini with garlic, chilli and lemon. The tandoor cauliflower was interesting, but we’re not sure this is something we would reorder, as the flavours didn’t pop as much as the other dishes.

UJ Tidbit:

They have a private room that you can book out, which makes this a great place for a corporate lunch or healthy-eating feast with family and friends.

Damage:

A starter and a main will cost you about $50++ to $60++ not including drinks.
