Back for its 7th edition, Singapore Art Week is all set to take the Little Red Dot by storm with a mind-boggling array of exhibitions, installations, art walks and discussion panels featuring renowned and up-and-coming artists from home and abroad. This unique city-wide festival runs from January 19 to January 27 and takes place in a vast array of locations across the island including museums, art galleries, independent art spaces, and even out in the open on the city streets.
This year the festival is offering up over 100 events designed to inspire and engage people of all ages and walks of life from fun art fairs to hands-on workshops, and symposiums on the role that art plays in contemporary culture. With nine days to explore the diverse array of offerings, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get inspired and expand your perspective. However, if you’re strapped for time, there are a few events that are not to be missed.
Be sure to check out the Light to Night Festival, when Singapore’s Civic District will be lit up in a dazzling array of lights and colours. ART STAGE Singapore gives you an inside glimpse into the private collections of the top 20 collectors in Singapore and Southeast Asia, while ARTWALK Little India takes you on a multi-sensory experience through one of Singapore’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. And if it’s a party you’re after, hit up Art After Dark at the Gillman Barracks for stimulating visual art, electrifying live music, and pop-up art stores.
