The name Ice-Cold Beer pretty much says it all about this unpretentious drinking den on Emerald Hill, just offOrchard Road. Here you have more than 60 types of local and international beers to choose from by the bottle, can, or draught. It also does great pub grub like chicken wings, fish ‘n’ chips, andpizzas, and there are pool tables and dart boards for those who fancy a game with their icy cold beers. For times when Singapore’s humidity is unbearable, you can’t go wrong with refreshing pit stop here.
Why you should come here:
Housed in a Peranakan shophouse from 1910, Ice-Cold Beer has lots of old school charm going on; think dark wood floors and shelving, leather sofas and stools, and vintage beer posters and signs on the walls. However, what sets it apart from other laid-back watering holes – besides the massive selection of beer – are the custom ice tanks built into the bar. These long glass-fronted cases are packed with ice and bottles of beer. It ain’t lying when it says every bottle is indeed ice cold.
What we love:
This is a super easy-going place that’s perfect for when you just want to chill out with a few cold ones among friends. Sidle up to the long bar on the ground floor and watch the bartender pluck your beer out of the huge vats of ice, head to the back for a game of darts, or make your way up the staircase at the back to hang out upstairs in Stellar Bar where you’ll find pool tables and lots of flat-screen TVs where you can watch the latest sports matches. And in keeping with their accessible-to-all theme, prices here are very reasonable for both drinks and food.
