Since its first appearance as a novel in 1865, Alice in Wonderland has captivated all ages with its whimsical world of eclectic characters and magic at every turn. Over the years the story has been retold in over 40 films and 30 television programmes and inspired everything from fashion to video games and advertising campaigns. Now you too can fall down the rabbit hole at Wonderland, an immersive and interactive exhibition at the ArtScience Museum that celebrates Lewis Carroll’s epic tale.
This unique exhibition invites you to take a trip through the looking glass and discover how artists and filmmakers have portrayed Alice and her story over the past century. Expect vibrant theatrical sets, interactive environments, cool props and eye-catching audiovisual artworks. The behind-the-scenes material includes over 300 artefacts and objects like first edition books, original costumes, drawings, films, animation and puppetry. Adding to the experience is The Lost Map of Wonderland, which unlocks fun adventures during your exhibition journey.
Developed by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), this one-of-a-kind exhibition has already won awards including the 2019 GLAMi’s Best in Show award and the GLAMi Exhibition Media or Experience: Immersive Category award at the 23rd annual MuseWeb conference in Boston.
