EAT
MyWarung Pasar
If you’re a frequent traveller to Bali, you may be familiar with the MyWarung group and their funky restaurants and cafes that boast great coffee, cocktails, and Indo and Western comfort food like nasi goreng and succulent steaks. MyWarung Pasar is the latest offering in the buzzing Petitenget hood. The setting is inviting with garden seating amid twinkling fairy lights, and the menu is slightly stepped up with offerings like the som tum Thai green papaya salad and Batik clams in red curry sauce. Not to worry though carnivores—you can still order MyWarung’s famous Black Angus steak.

Seasalt
It’s all about the bounty of the sea at Seasalt, a bright and breezy spot on the beach that focuses on fresh seafood with Japanese touches. Grab a seat inside for views of the open kitchen or out on the deck for views of the ocean. Start with some appetite-whetting bites like cured mahi mahi with pickled wakame or soft shell crab maki rolls. Then dig into heartier dishes like the yuzu seafood pasta, grilled chili squid, or spicy barramundi with ginger flower, pumpkin, and eggplant. For extra seasoning, add a pinch of the restaurant’s namesake Bali sea salt.

Everywhere you turn at Tropicola there are bright pops of colour from the deep blue tiles of the swimming pool to the bright yellow umbrellas over striped sun loungers and the red and white uniforms of the servers. The food and drinks are just as bold as the design with contemporary takes on beachside fare like crunchy salads, sizzling seafood, and burgers with freshly baked brioche buns. Set on Batu Belig Beach, this is the perfect spot to spend the day catching rays, noshing, and sipping on fruity concoctions. Come evening it’s also a primo spot for sunset views and drinks under the stars.

Sharing an entrance with Hotel Indigo, but in a category all of its own, SugarSand is a sassy new seaside venue that’s part beach club, breezy restaurant, and cool cocktail lounge. At the heart of the space is a gorgeous pool that stretches towards the ocean and is surrounded by wooden decking and terraces. The kitchen puts out Peruvian Nikkei cuisine, so you can expect everything from sushi to ceviche and robata grills. After dark the lounge offers up contemporary cocktails and cool beats with a music programme curated by Bali’s beloved DJ Lady FLiC.
