Stellar at 1-Altitude is a gastronomic modern European restaurant, the highest in Singapore located directly under the iconic rooftop bar that boasts its status as the highest alfresco bar in Asia, 282 metres above sea level. The Executive Chef is Christopher Millar, who is also one of the world’s Krug Ambassade chefs and is well-known for his innovative style and exquisite presentation of his dishes.
With a stable of accolades for both Chef Millar and the restaurant, you can embark on a highly creative 6 or 8 course journey (called Constellations) surrounded by a gorgeous, sprawling view of Marina Bay. Dedication to seasonality and artisanal, hand-picked ingredients enable Stellar to present an exciting, ever changing menu of offerings that keeps the experience fresh.
As one of three Krug Ambassade restaurants in Singapore, Stellar at 1-Altitude offers exclusive champagne pairing menus, dinners and experiences that must be tried.
Why you should come here:
When you talk about rooms with a view, it doesn’t get any better than this. Window seats are the front row equivalent at Stellar so make sure that you ask for it when making your reservations (pricing may change based on occasion or seasonality).
The restaurant is the place to go to impress your clients, family or your date. You can also expect smooth service, polished food presentation, as well as a seamless and memorable dining experience.
What we love:
A dish we want to shout out about is Chef Millar’s take on the comfort carbonara, presented with Carabinero prawn, parmesan cream, egg yolk in smoked oil and bacon ash. It’s contemporary, it’s elegant and yet, the flavours are familiar and…comforting!
Another win in our books is his rendition of the steak tartare using succulent Stanbroke Angus tenderloin with Japanese Flavours. It was a glorious party in the mouth to say the least, #justyum
We opted for a wine pairing and left it to the sommelier who knows best. While we have to admit we’re unequivocal vino fiends, the pairing was complementary to the entire dinner, tying up all the amazing flavours in delicious little bows.
And, just when we thought the evening couldn’t get any better, dessert blew us away. If you want something completely different with a unique wow factor, then the dessert art experience is a must. The restaurant’s amazing Pastry Chef is Jasmin Chew and she creates an interactive confectionary presentation at your table, which is both impressive and utterly delicious. This really put a completely immersive and fun element to the dinner and it is definitely something we haven’t seen before around town. We went for the lichu chocolate parfait and the koi, a creation consisting of Gariguette strawberries, basil white chocolate parfait, caramelised nibs and a sprinkle of nasturtium.
UJ tidbit:
Chef Millar is a pro at crafting very special, creative experiences for his guests. If you want to plan something out of the ordinary, then definitely look for Chef. We also happen to know that he’s about to launch a super intimate chef’s table experience in his kitchen, a limited and must-be-booked-in-advance affair. Go ahead, call and ask about that if you’re keen.
Who to look for: Gabriel on the floor, he’s a star and he’ll make sure you are taken care of from start to finish to a T.
