Hey, hey – can you believe it’s already May? Time seems to fly when you’re having fun, and we have a feeling this month is going to whiz by because there are tons of awesome events going on around town. We’re talking a world-class food festival, a cocktail extravaganza, the island’s biggest farmer’s market, cool film screenings, and plenty of opportunities to rock out and get your groove on to live bands and world-class DJs. Pencil them in now to avoid some serious FOMO.

Now – May 12

World Gourmet Summit

If you haven’t expanded your culinary horizons at the World Gourmet Summit yet, now is the time to do it because there’s only one week left to get your eat and drink on. Events include special menus at select restaurants and venues around Singapore and master chef demos with rising talents and celebrated tastemakers. The theme this year is sustainability in the gastronomy world.

ArtScience on Screen: Alice Is Everywhere

Art Science Museum SingaporeAs part of the new Wonderland exhibition, the ArtScience Museum is putting on special screenings of iconic Alice in Wonderland films at the Expression Gallery. From now until May 10 you can catch the 1951 production of Alice in Wonderland by Clyde Geronimi and Wilfred Jackson. Then from May 10 to May 20 you can compare and contrast it with the1966 version by Jonathan Miller. Check the website for film times.

Disco de Mayo

Disco de Mayo SingaporeCelebrate the eve of Cinco de Mayo this Saturday at Lucha Loco with the return of Disco de Mayo. Throw on your best retro disco threads and bring your best dance moves so you can boogie down to classic disco rhythms and old skool tunes by DJ Tyler Made. Expect plenty of afro wigs, sparkling disco balls, tacos, tequila and fun giveaways from 9pm to 1am.

Pizza and Natural Wines at Cicheti

Isn’t that a phrase that is just music to your ears? It definitely is to ours, especially since we have some of our favorite concepts,Cichetiand Wine RVLT, teaming up to bring you a Sunday afternoon filled with delicious pizzas, natural wines and great beats. Expect some of their classic pizzas like the margarita buffala and a napolitana, two meat pizzas and a RVLT special. For wines, they’ve curated a list of 10 natural wines. Just pop into Cicheti on Kandahar Street on Sunday May 6, tables are at a first come first serve basis.

Singapore Cocktail Festival

Singapore Cocktail FestivalIt’s time to get boozy at the Singapore Cocktail Festival, an award-winning event that brings some of the best bartenders in the world to The Little Red Dot. Hit up the Festival Village at Empress Lawn where you can sample signature cocktails for just $12 a pop, watch live bartending competitions, and enjoy tons of great entertainment. The festival will also feature bar tours, masterclasses and more.

Sprout

Singapore’s largest farmer’s market is back for its second edition at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre. This farm-to-people festival celebrates growers, food producers, local agriculture, urban farming and artisans with tons of vendors selling fresh, honest produce and homegrown artisan brands. The market runs from 10am to 8pm and entrance is free to all.

Established in 1977, the festival celebrates contemporary artists from far and wide with spectacular showings of theatre, music, dance, film and visual arts. The events take place at venues all over the island, but The Arts House is the main hub and will be positively buzzing with artist talks, workshops, immersive exhibitions and opportunities to chat up artists and art lovers at the festival bar.

Carl Cox at Marquee

Carl Cox at MarqueeEDM fans are already freaking out for May 17 because the king of house music and techno is going to be helming the decks at Singapore’s biggest nightclub. That’s right, we’re talking about none other than Carl Cox, and he’ll be back in Singapore once again to get the dance floor heaving at the brand spanking new Marquee. Get your tickets now, because they’re selling out fast.

Joo Chiat Rock Festival

To celebrate Joo Chiat’s 60th anniversary, the first ever Joo Chiat Rock Festival will take place next to the sea at Siglap Outfall at East Coast Park. The festival kicks off at 5pm with a stellar lineup that includes acts like Supersonic, Too Much Drama, Ffion and M1ldl1fe, plus supporting acts from the Academy of Rock. There will also be fun fringe activities and food and drink stalls.

AIA Glow Festival

AIA Glow Festival SingaporeTake some time out to reset, refresh and recharge at the AIA Glow Festival. This fun all-day wellness event includes yoga classes for all levels, a fun 5km charity run, fab live music acts, and nutritious and delicious eats by some of Singapore’s favourite restaurants and cafes. Even better, it all takes place on Sentosa Island, which is like a mini-vacay in itself.
